Fairfield School Threat Leads to Lockdown

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

This morning, Fairfield Police received a phone call from a man who made claims that he was in a home on Blackrock Turnpike. He said that he had killed his girlfriend, had a hostage, and was in possession of guns and pipebombs. The man also called three schools– Holland Hill Elementary School, Ludlowe High School, and Warde High School- and each school received a different threat. In the man’s call to Holland Hill Elementary he said he was coming with an M-16. Ludlowe received a bomb threat, and Warde was told that there were pipebombs placed throughout the school.

All 17 schools in Fairfield were on lockdown, and Fairfield University took safety precautions by closing all gates except for the main entrance. In a phone message to parents, police asked them to refrain from going to the schools so emergency responders could work more efficiently.

Police form neighboring towns were on call for assistance, and though police were unable to identify a threat, they took the situation seriously. Currently, there is a police presence at all 17 schools. Fairfield schools are currently on lockout mode, and students will have an early dismissal.
