Name: Maryann O. UhlmanMajor: Biology Major, Music Performance MinorHometown: Broomall, PAActivities on campus: Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, Bonchek Congress, Mu Upsilon Sigma, WFNM DJHC: Favorite place on campus?

MU: Hartman Green or Meyran

HC: Favorite hobbies?

MU: Napping, binge-watching Netflix, eating raw cookie dough

HC: What did you do this summer?

MU: I was an Orientation Planning Director (OPD) working for the Office of the Deans with nine other students. I specifically worked for Bonchek College House alongside Bridget Austin and Dean Proffitt.

HC: What was your favorite part of being an OPD? Least favorite part?

MU: My favorite part of orientation was when the freshmen got here.  Everything that we had worked on all summer was finally happening and it was such a great feeling.  It’s also really nice to put faces to the names of people you’ve been talking to all summer. I’d have to say that my least favorite part was about a week into arriving back on campus.  I didn’t realize just how much work we had to do, and I felt a little bit overwhelmed and I definitely wasn’t the only OPD that felt that way.  Thankfully we all supported each other and things were fine the next week!

HC: What are your plans for next summer?

MU: I plan on marching with a drum corps, which is like a professional intense marching band.  It’s been a dream of mine ever since I’ve started being a musician.

HC: Ben or John?

MU: Ben totally!  Don’t get me wrong, John Marshall is totally awesome, but Benjamin Franklin was a founding father.  Plus, I don’t think John Marshall would have flown a kite with a key in a thunderstorm.

I attend Franklin & Marshall College and am the campus correspondent of the Her Campus chapter here. I also play flute with the Pep Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. I am an editor for the Patsy Post, am involved with F&M Unleashed, a member of Mu Upsilon Sigma, and a Brother of Phi Sigma Pi, a co-ed honors fraternity.
