When you spend enough time at a place, you begin to tolerate it. Eventually, you’ll start to actually enjoy it. After almost four years you’ll feel more comfortable here than at any other place in the world. As it sets in that I only have limited time left at this place I now call my home, I’ve come to realize how important it is to give credit to all the things and people that have made it this way. So here is a well-deserved “thank you” list to those little things and people that make Scranton “no place I’d rather be.”

Thank you to Peggy from third floor DeNaples for ensuring that the jelly is NEVER contaminated by peanut butter.

Thank you  for allowing me to meet my bridesmaids. Walking across the graduation stage with the same girls that will watch me walk down the aisle is reason enough to be thankful.

Thank you for the hidden gems that took me three years to find but none the less have made Scranton so much more of a home. Just to name a few: Nina’s, Nayaug, Freed Love, Lake Scranton, and Manning’s.

Thank you for the third floor soft serve machine and their amazing toppings selection. It’s become the ultimate comfort food, home-sick food, “I have a final I should treat myself” food and “because I feel like it” sweet treat.

Thank you to the maintenance staff who work tirelessly to make us all feel like we live at a 5 star resort. Most importantly, thank you for throwing away the alcohol bottles without question, along with passing us some tidbits of life advice.

Thank you for the ladies at the POD who look the other way when they see me slip my hand in the candy bin to grab a quick pick me up before class.

Thank you Ang for being a Starbucks staple. You greet everyone with a smile and friendly face, making 8 a.m’s a little less miserable.

Thank you Scranton for the abundance of geotag options for my “my story.”

Thank you mystery library man for that nightly reminder that “the library will be closing in ten minutes” confirming that I should probably give up and head to Granteeds.

Thank you for the absurd number of free t-shirts I have acquired over the past 4 years and for ensuring I will never have to be an outfit repeater at the gym because of it.

Thank you to Father Rick and his guitar for always making mass relatable to our unconventional college lives and making us feel a little less guilty about those decisions we made in the hill section.

Thank you for the faculty who have become more like second parents and throwing us extra credit when our desperation reaches that all time high right before finals.

Thank you for Joe in DeNaples who insists on making sure every want and need is met when it comes to dining and for finally putting oil and vinegar across the street.

Thank you Damien and Lew for bringing that much more noise and liveliness to first floor.

Lastly, thank you Penn State football for the free iced coffee. Keep doing whatever it is you’re doing because you’re getting me through my Monday’s.

Maggie is a Long Island girl in every sense of the word. She's a senior at The University of Scranton majoring in Marketing and hopes to work in New York City post graduation. Despite the below freezing temperatures that grace Scranton shortly after summer, Maggie can always be seen carrying an iced coffee (preferably from Starbucks). She is grateful to Scranton for allowing her to meet her best friends and providing her opportunities to travel and see the world! Maggie looks forward to graduating and finding a job that lets her work with great people and travel often!
