Name: Olivia Wardlaw
Graduation: June 2018

Hometown: San Diego
Relationship status: Single
What’s your favorite thing about Davis?
I love the fact that it’s a small town. Even though I’ve lived in San Diego for most of my life, I’m actually from Mammoth, so I really love the small-town feel. Davis isn’t like Los Angeles, where you can get lost. Everyone knows where everything is here, it’s so charming and cute.
What do you miss the most from home?
My dogs. I mean, I miss my family too… but I really miss my dogs! I have a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd back at home. I love all animals, I’ve even taken in a stray cat from my neighborhood and started feeding her. Her name is Taylor Swift.
What’s the best class you’ve taken so far?
Honestly, I loved the Economics class that I took. Even though I got a B-. It was so challenging for me but it was so, so interesting. I wouldn’t say I’m naturally good at math, but I loved learning how the economy works and applying formulas to it. I really had to figure it out myself, and even though I spent hours in Starbucks going over the lectures, it felt great to work so hard at something.
What’s the class you’re most looking forward to taking?
I seriously can’t wait for the Children’s Literature class. I would love to analyze Harry Potter for an assignment or something.
What’s the most important thing in a relationship for you?
Honesty. I think it’s crazy that people try to act a certain way when they’re in a relationship, like you can’t do this or you can’t do that. Authenticity is really important to me, you have to be sincere.
What’s your ideal date?
April 25th, because it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold, all you need is a light jacket!
What are you most looking forward to in the next year?
The election, obviously! As a PolySci major, I’m excited for the debates.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I want to say Paris, but really I’d be going back there. So I’m going to say the Scottish Highlands, because there’s something that seems so magical about that place! I love thinking about it pouring rain over the mountains in Scotland.
What’s your favorite show to binge-watch?
It’s a tie between Friends and Grey’s Anatomy. Friends because it’s such a timeless show, and you can watch any episode at random, and Grey’s because it makes me think I could actually be a cardiac surgeon like Cristina Yang.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving. Mostly because I love food, and I love making it with my family. Thanksgiving almost feels like a low-key Christmas to me, because you have all of your family there, but there isn’t the pressure of giving and opening presents, you know? It just has such a great fall vibe to me.
What’s the best present you could receive?
Fuzzy socks. I’m obsessed with them. I also love the kinds of gifts that are pretty random, but that the person who gives it to you says, “I thought of you when I saw this!” Those kinds of gifts are the best.
What’s your Starbucks order?
It used to be a cold brew iced coffee, but recently I’ve been getting a cappuccino with extra foam.
And finally, what are you being for Halloween?
Nothing. Ha, maybe I’ll be Cristina and my roommate could be Meredith!
