12 Thoughts Everyone Has While Walking to Class

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Around campus you’ll see students walking in all directions, backpacks on their shoulders and a dead look in their eyes. But what are we all thinking as we’re meandering off to class, trying to avoid direct eye contact with everyone? Maybe you have a song stuck in your head, or you’re repeating the words “out of my way, out of my way” in your mind in hopes that the slow-moving people in front of you will telepathically pick up your message and pick up the pace. Here in Pittsburgh, especially during the unpredictable fall weather season, you can be guaranteed to be thinking most of the following as you’re making your way to Cathy:

1. Wow, it’s kind of cold. Maybe I should have worn a heavier jacket.

2. I wonder if the squirrels and the pigeons are friends.

3. Nature is beautiful and life is a gift.

4. Okay, bicyclists seriously need to watch where they’re going.

5. I am so excited to eat again.

6. Ugh, it’s so hot! Why did I wear so many layers?

7. If that car hit me, would the driver have to pay for my tuition?

8. Why do people walk so slowly? Are they half-snail?

9. I can’t wait to take a nap.

10. Oh look, it’s my friend. I will smile and wave at them!

11. They didn’t see me. Just keep walking, just keep walking…

12. The sun went behind a cloud. It’s cold again.
