Her Campus (HC): So what are you involved in at FSU?
Carly Brasfield (CB): I am a member of ADPi, I was a recruitment counselor this past fall and I am now a Relay for Life team ambassador.
HC: What made you want to become an ambassador for Relay for Life?
CB: I wanted to be more involved with FSU as my time here comes to an end and I had heard so many positive things about the event.
HC: Ah yes, you’re a senior now! Do you have a dream job for after you graduate?
CB: To be Chelsea Handler. Or to be a sea turtle trainer. Or a racecar driver.
HC: Those are great goals. Have you had any professors here at FSU that have made an impression on your experience?
CB: I think that’s a tie between Jennifer Profitt, who teaches Media Ethics and Stephen MacNarama, who teaches Media Law. Profitt was a really great teacher and made the material interesting. On Halloween last year she came to class dressed as a scarecrow and passed out candy to the class. It was adorable. And MacNarama was a hoot. I don’t know why he’s wasting his time as a professor when he could be a comedian.
HC: What’s your favorite class that you’ve taken here?
CB: Probably the self-defense and martial arts class I’m in now. It’s a one-credit course in this creepy, old padded room in the bottom of Tully, but it’s really fun and I feel a lot more confident should I be mugged anytime soon.
HC: *Laughs.* You sound prepared and it seems like you’ve had a really great experience over these past four years! If there’s anything you could tell your freshman self, what would it be?
CB: Coming into college my freshman year, I wasn’t in a sorority and I wasn’t involved in anything. The best friends I made during my freshman year were the cast of LOST on Netflix. I was always super bored. I would want my freshman year self to know that it gets better, and to stay off of Facebook. Everyone, especially their freshman year, has super high expectations of college, and everyone is going to use social media to make their lives look so much more fun than you feel like yours is. But even though it may look like it on Facebook, your high school friends probably aren’t having much more fun than you.
HC: That’s so true. And since then you’ve joined ADPi; what’s your fondest memory of being a part of this sorority?
CB: I really loved the new member sleepover we had with our pledge class my first year. I wish we could have big slumber parties like that all the time. We all just hung out and talked and ate lots of snacks.

HC: Snacks are always good! If you could be any candy what would it be and why?
CB: Sour Patch Kids. First they’re sour, then they’re sweet. I can relate.
HC: I feel like a lot of people can relate to that. Do you have a favorite place to eat in Tallahassee?
CB: I really love Jasmine’s Café and Taco Republik. It will soon be Bento whenever they finish building it.
HC: I can’t wait for Bento either! If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, would it be Asian food?
CB: I do love Asian food, but I’d have to say sweet potatoes! I love those things and they’re way healthier than chocolate, which is my second choice.
HC: How health-conscious of you! Let’s finish with a fun question: if you were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring three things, what would they be?
CB: I would actually love to be stuck on a deserted island! I’m a huge Naked and Afraid fan. Eating coconuts and living in a bamboo hut on the beach sounds delightful. I would probably bring Seth Rogen for entertainment purposes, of course, Jack from the show LOST because he would be super helpful for survival and maybe a machete to cut down the coconuts. I wouldn’t need a boat because I would be completely content.
