My Kind of Dirty Talk: Whisper Sweet Stuffings

Food is amazing and Utah is slightly underestimated for its foodie culture. Whispersweetstuffings is a Instagram account that was created by our very own Her Campus Utah founder, Mietra Brown! She has recently graduated and embraced adulthood strait on. She is happily married and works as a fine art consultant at Park City Fine Art on Main Street. Mietra did not leave her writing career entirely through these changes, however. She has directed her creativity towards her Instagram account where she features the best food experiences in Utah as well as anywhere else she travels too. I met with Mietra to find out answers about her inspiring foodie Instagram.

 

 

What inspired Whispersweetstuffings?

I wanted a reason to pursue where to go for unique places to eat. I felt as if it was already a “job” of mine to be a foodie trendsetter.

What has been the best food you have eaten so far?

The Crème Brule oatmeal from Gourmandise is the best food I have eaten so far. It tastes like a treat, even though oatmeal is a healthy breakfast dish. It makes you feel full, the warm and cozy full not the overly stuffed feeling.

Is this something you share with your husband or your separate passion?

Rich didn’t have the passion at first but he is becoming a foodie! He used to not like tomatoes but now his mouth waters every time he sees tomatoes because he thinks about a caprese salad! His friends slightly mimic his new passion but it doesn’t bother him. Even though we are broke newlyweds we make it a priority to enjoy food experiences.

If you could travel anywhere for foodspiration where would it be?

Southern France or Dubai because southern France has simple food in the most perfect way and Dubai has every single option imaginable.

Do you cook or bake?

I try to do both. Simplicity is best. Whenever I try a recipe from Pintrest, it mostly ends in a fail.

Is there a holiday treat your looking forward to?

Starting November 1st and going until the 21st Yelp is hosting a bakery tour, which features bakery’s along the Wasatch front including classes, tasting etc. I am specifically excited for Les Madeleines holiday baking preview. (Wednesday, November 18th from 6-8) This holiday I am also on a mission to finding the perfect gingerbread cookie.

What made you choose Instagram as your media?

I want Whispersweetstuffings to be about where to go for a fun food experience. I don’t want my purpose to be pictures of beautiful food for people to admire just because I am good at taking pictures of what I eat. As I said before it is a priority for my husband and I to have fun with food. I want my account to give people ideas on what to do on the weekend, over a holiday or any random day if they love food.

 

After my interview with Mietra my stomach began to growl. I decided to try Jafflz, a pocket sandwich shop located on Main Street in Park City. I was impressed with this new way of eating a pocket sandwich. I ordered the macaroni stuffed Jaffl and now I don’t know if I can eat macaroni by itself anymore. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Krissi attends the University of Utah studying to become a journalist.
