The Best Things to Buy This Holiday Season for the Makeup Junkie on Your List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USFCA chapter.

We all have the one friend who is obsessed with makeup, and if you can’t think of anyone, it’s probably you. They are the ones that are up to date on all the trends and could literally spend 3 hours in Sephora swatching EVERY. SINGLE. PRODUCT. Well, the holidays are fast approaching and what’s better to get a makeup junkie? More makeup of course! Here are some great options to get for this very special friend, no matter your budget.

1. Too Faced – Le Grand Chateau, $49

This is probably one of the cutest gift sets I have seen in a very long time. This set by Too Faced comes with 3 eyeshadow palettes (as shown in the photo) and a deluxe sized “Better Than Sex” mascara. That is a total of 18 shadows, two blushes, and a bronzer. With my experience with Too Faced shadows, I think this is a really great deal, and a really great gift because the pigmentation and quality is great! Plus, it comes in a cute dollhouse inspired box, and who wouldn’t love that?

2.  Sephora Favorites – Give Me Some Lip, $25

If your friend likes lip products, this is the gift for them. This favorites from Sephora comes with 6 different lip products from 6 different makeup brands. They are all in neutral tones – with the exception of the red from Marc Jacobs – that will suit almost every skin tone. You can’t go wrong with this gift for the price!

3. Becca – Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal Glow on the Go, $20

During the holidays, everyone wants to be glowing and look wonderful; this is the perfect product for that. The shade Opal suits all skin tones and has the perfect amount of shimmer and shine. It comes with two travel size highlighters – one is liquid and one is baked. Becca has some of the best highlighters (in my opinion), and this is a great gift for someone who is either new to highlighters or new to Becca.

4. NARS – Steven Klein Collaboration One Shocking Moment Cheek Palette, $69

A couple of years ago, I got a NARS blush palette for Christmas and it was one of my favorite gifts ever. I still haven’t used all of the product, so it was only natural that I put this on the list. Any makeup junkie would love this as a gift, as long as you are willing to splurge a little. This palette comes with 4 blushes, a contour color, a highlighter, and the famous Laguna bronzer.

5. e.l.f. – Spotlight Ready 50 Piece Palette, $15

50 pieces for $15, you’ve got to be kidding me! The company e.l.f. has high quality products for a very very low price. I think this is a perfect gift for someone who wants a lot of bang of their buck (and a surprised reaction from the recipient). Also, this is good for Secret Santa gifts if you have a limited budget! This palette comes with 40 eyeshadows and 10 blush and bronzer shades.

6. NYX – Highlight & Contour Pro Palette, $25

There has been a lot of talk about the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Contour Kit, and this is the perfect dupe for it. At almost half the price, you don’t lose any of the quality. The shades are great for most skin tones, and will create a very natural contour. It comes with 4 contour shades and 4 highlight shades

7. Makeup Geek – 9 Eyeshadow Starter Kit, $49

Makeup Geek has to be my favorite makeup brand out there. The shadows are SO amazing in quality and they are only $6 each, which is incredible. These are pans only, so that means the recipient would have to have a Z-Palette or something similar to keep these in. Nonetheless, the mix of the shadows is perfect for a beginner or a pro. I highly recommend this for a gift!

8. MAC – Irresistibly Charming Lip Gloss/Pink, $35

MAC Cosmetics is arguably the most well-known makeup brand out there, so what would a makeup list be without it? The holiday collection this year has really cool packaging and anyone would love to get something from MAC. This particular set has more pink tones in the lipgloss, but there are also sets with more of a violet tone and nude tone.

There are so many more options you could get, but these are some of my favorites. Even if you can only spend $10, or the person you are gifting is a pro makeup artist, they would love any one of these gifts. Happy holidays, and happy shopping!
