5 Ways to Improve Your Morning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

We can all admit that mornings are tough. We would rather hit the snooze button and dive deeper into our cozy sheets. Instead of doing this, try these 5 tips to help you wake up and even start enjoying your mornings!

1. Morning Validation

Encourage yourself every morning with kind words! You must truly believe in yourself in order to accomplish daily goals. Remain positive in the mornings to make for an overall better day. Try writing something affirmative on a sticky note the night before and leaving it next to your bed to wake up to. Look at yourself in the mirror and name 5 things that you love about yourself to help with good self-image. You can also try writing down three things you are grateful that morning. Little changes in the way you think during your mornings will make big differences for the rest of your day!

2. Stretch

It doesn’t matter if you do yoga, go to the gym, or just stretch; moving your body will help energy levels throughout the entire day and make you feel more productive. Stretching will help improve posture and minimize general stress. It doesn’t matter how long you do the activity as long as you just get your body moving!

3. Eat Breakfast

Think about the word ‘breakfast.’  It means to “break your fast.” While we are sleeping we go hours without eating. When we wake up we need to refuel our bodies with nutrients. Eating breakfast will improve your mood and keep you more focused throughout the day. Find some quick breakfasts that you enjoy eating, oatmeal or yogurt and granola are a couple of easy AND yummy foods to make in the morning.

4. Make A To Do List

Writing down important tasks that need to get done during the day is a great way to stay organized and keep you on top of things. Check the responsibilities off once you have accomplished them. This will keep you feeling productive and ambitious throughout the day.

5. Take A Hot Shower

Hot showers in the morning will help you wake up and feel refreshed. Turn on your favorite music and use your favorite smelling body wash to make the experience even better!

Make sure to try out these tips in the morning, sleepy head!
