Shoes Every Woman Should Have in Her Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

When it comes to accessories, shoes are one of my favorite ways to spice up an outfit. Let’s be honest, a girl can never have too many shoes. From daytime to nighttime, summer to winter, these are essential shoes every woman should have in her closet:

Ballet Flats

These are a necessity from the work day to going out. They make you feel put together and feminine. Flats are also perfect for when your heels are killing you. You can easily switch to a pair of flats since they are super easy to pack.

Ankle Booties

Ankle boots go with any outfit you can think of; they are the perfect fall accessory. From ripped jeans to a cute dress, they are the best walkable heel. You can’t go wrong with the classic black for an edgy look or soft neutral because they both pair well with everything. Make sure you master how to cuff your jeans with ankle boots. A little bit of skin showing on your ankle is key.

Summer Wedges

Once spring rolls around, you can break out the summer sandals, whether that’s wedges or open toe with a heel. These can be worn with anything in the warm weather, from skirts to denim pants to shorts!

Black Pumps

Classic pumps will never let you down, especially if they’re black. They add an element of sass to any outfit and help you look polished. Pointy or rounded toe, ankle strap or t-strap, each and every pump will keep you looking chic.

“Go-With-Everything” Sandals

Everyday sandals are essential for the summer months. Depending on your closet color palette, finding basic brown or black leather sandals to match your essentials is key. It’s like an upgrade for your flip-flops, so pick something you’d be happy to wear every day. One tip is to be sure the metal accents on the shoe match your go-to color.

Statement Heels

Statement heels can really be any bold, fun high-heel that speaks to you. That means a bright print, exciting color, cut outs, added bows or strappy, whatever fits your style best! If you’re really feeling adventurous, try gladiator lace-up or fringe heels. Take your pick, they’re supposed to make you feel instantly confident.

Classic Riding Boots

Once the leaves turn, a pair of tall boots are a must. Over the knee, calf height, zippers or heeled, it’s your decision and they’re all great options for the colder months. Tall boots will keep your legs warm, look stylish and they’re practical for the weather.

Slip-On Sneakers

Finding the pair of shoes that make walks around the city a breeze is a challenge, but don’t fear, the perfect sneakers are near! Finding the right fit in casual kicks can take some time, but there are so many great sneakers available. This is a weekend shoe that you can show your personality through statement patterns to metallic or leather.

Nude Heels

For evening events, wear your best nude heels to keep it classic and elegant. They also elongate your legs which is an added bonus. The best thing about nude heels is that they match with any color or pattern you happen to be wearing. They virtually go with everything!
