5 Must-Haves for Planning a Friendsgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

The holidays are finally upon us and the first stop is Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a day you traditionally spent with your family, but what about your friends? We’re adults now, so why not? Maybe you can’t make it home this year or you just want to try something new. Here are five ways to plan your very own Friendsgiving!

1. D.I.Y Decor

Now is the perfect time to make use of Pinterest. Search for some cute center pieces and placemats.

2. Potluck

Don’t put all of the work on yourself. Ask each guest to bring a dish. And because its Friendsgiving, its okay to opt for a nontraditional dish.

3.  Playlist

No celebration is complete without a playlist. Pandora is your friend. There are several stations listed under Friendsgiving to get everyone in the spirit. But who says the music has to match the occasion? Beyonce is always appropriate!

4. Games

Entertainment is a must when having friends over. Make sure you have a deck of cards close by, but when that get boring the app, Heads Up, makes for a great time especially when played with multiple people. It’s basically Charades for the technology advanced and it’s available to download for iPhone and Android.

5. Give Thanks

No matter how you celebrate this day, you can’t let it pass without giving thanks. Before the day is over be sure to go around and share at least one thing that you’re thankful for.
