Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide App

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guides (BBG) have been the rage of fitness communities since her first eBook released a year and a half ago. The 23 year-old Aussie personal trainer and fitness guru’s popularity spike can be accredited to the thousands of “before and after” transformation photos that have since flooded Instagram, inspiring girls all around the world to hop on the #BBG bandwagon.

With over 1.7 million followers, the Instagram sensation just recently launched an app, “Sweat with Kayla,” revolutionizing the distribution of her fitness guides.

Now, previously printable PDF versions of her guides can be compressed into the convenience of your smartphone so that workouts can be taken on-the-go.

The BBG guides are broken up into two 12 week units—each a whopping 70 dollars, not including the cost of the nutrition guides nor the necessary space and equipment.

The allure of the program, though, is the promise of incredible metamorphosis, both in body and spirit, upon completion.

Even more so, the short duration of the workouts is extremely appealing to busy high school students and working women. But, ladies, don’t be fooled—these 28 minutes are jam-packed with burpees, jump-squats and a whole lot of other high intensity exercises that’ll leave you dripping in sweat and gasping for air.

“A lot of women lose motivation because they think, ‘I have to workout for an hour and a half every single day, five days a week,’” Kayla told Business Insider, adding that all of her workouts can be completed at home. “I think that’s what people love about my program. I’ve taught them you don’t have to kill yourself at the gym. It’s 28 minutes and then you’re done.”

Unlike the old eBook guides, the app is subscription-based, charging users 4.61 dollars per week with a minimum term of three months. Although those who already purchased the guides for upwards of 120 dollars were needing to pay even more to use the new system, others were elated.

The app has hit number one in the App store’s “health and fitness” category the day of its release on November 20th and has since been all the buzz of the Internet.

So, Badgers, since we likely won’t be leaving our dorms in the winter, maybe a little #BBG will do us good.
