Why You Shouldn’t Pay Up for Kylie’s Lip Kit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

You’ve heard about Kylie’s Lip Kits…and how everyone freaked out when they launched.

Ever since the Lip Kits sold out, they’ve been popping up on eBay with prices ranging from $85-$10,000.

Since most of us don’t have 10k to spare on a liquid lipstick (and matching lip liner), here are three companies that sell dupes for that highly-sought-after Kylie lip look for a significantly cheaper price!

ColourPop Cosmetics

It is actually rumored that Kylie’s Lip Kits are just ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lips repackaged. This scandalous accusation quickly got attention when popular YouTube beauty guru, NikkieTutorials, tweeted about the possible repackaging (which is actually far more common than many are aware of).  Of course, everything is just alleged at this point but do these swatches tell a different story?

Even if these are not the exact product, they still are pretty phenomenal dupes. Clueless is the dupe for Candy K; Beeper for Dolce K, Limbo for True Brown K. The best part? They’re available on ColourPop’s website for just $6 each!

Kat Von D

One of Kat Von D’s most popular colors, Lolita, is arguably the more wearable dupe for Dolce K. This more pink liquid lipstick dupe retails at $20 and is available at Sephora.

Gerard Cosmetics

Another cult-favorite brand, Gerard Cosmetics, offers up a very similar liquid lipstick dupe to Dolce K as well. Iced Mocha is available online for $20.

In all reality, people have been trying to replicate Kylie’s signature look ever since they followed her on Instagram. There are plenty of alternatives to Kylie’s Lip Kits – most costing less than $29 and all costing less than $10,000.
