The Nickelodeon HALO Awards took place on Sunday (Nov. 29). The award show celebrating charity and people striving to make the world a better place was broadcast across Viacom’s Nickelodeon, Teen Nick, and TV LAND channels.
HALO stands for Helping And Leading Others. Creator and host Nick Cannon recognizes teens making a difference in their community. The 2015 honorees included: Ethan Cruikshank (16), Joshua Williams (14), Riley Gantt (15) and Ruchita Zaparde (18.)
The 2015 HALO Awards featured special musical performances by Fifth Harmony, Tori Kelly, Flo Rida and Walk The Moon, and DNCE. The casts of popular Nickelodeon shows “Make It Pop” and “Bella and the Bulldogs” made appearances and played games to raise money for the HALO honorees.
Justin Bieber was awarded the inaugural HALO Hall of Fame Award for his on-going work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Pencils of Promise. Justin humbly accepted the award and gave a thoughtful speech about how sad things are happening in the world right now. He took a moment of silence during his speech to acknowledge it. He finished with a hopeful message, “There is always light in the darkness.”
We can all take a cue from these inspirational people and help make the world a better place!
