Even though the finals are almost upon us, there’s still time for some holiday cheer. A great way to achieve that is to add a little festiveness to your dorm room. Here are some quick ways to get your space, and you, in a holiday mood!
1. String lights
String lights are not only a great way to prep your room for the holidays, they also add a twinkling light source to your room. You can get them basically anywhere, from the grocery store to online (or ask your parents to send your some from the stock in the basement!). Hang them up around your bed, the window or anywhere you think they’ll look great!
2. Decorate your door
This could be mean wrapping your door like a present, putting up a wreath, decorating it with snowflake cutouts, whatever works for you! Decorating your dorm can be a fun project you and your roommate(s) do together and it’ll give all your floor mates something to compliment you on!
3. Put out miniature sized decorations
It’s no secret that dorm rooms are pretty small, meaning you can’t get as extensive with the decorating as you can back home. Instead, find smaller versions of your favorite decorations such as a tiny Christmas tree, a small electric menorah or a mini, fake snowman. That way you’ll still get the holiday feeling without having space concerns.
4. Warm beverages
For some reason, warm beverages just have a holiday spirit. Hot chocolate can easily be made in your dorm room microwave. To make it even better, heat up milk instead of water in your microwave and get a pack of mini marshmallows to throw in there. If you’re not a hot chocolate fan, there are some great seasonal teas out there that you can make for a quick study session pick me up.
5. Holiday music
Even if you don’t have time for decorating, you can still play your favorite holiday songs to get you in the spirit! Create a custom radio playlist using Pandora, Spotify or Apple music with your favorite festive tunes and play it loud. Sing along, dance it out and get excited for break!
Hopefully these tips have helped you bring a little cheer into the last week of classes and study period!
