Before coming to UT, I had always befriended athletes like myself. I had never really had friends that didn’t play sports but that all changed sophomore year when I met my now roommate and one of my closest friends Erin. Erin is a musical theater major and living with her has some interesting qualities.
She sings constantly.
From the moment she wakes up until she goes to bed there is no stopping her
Don’t even think about walking down a flight of stairs.
There’s something about the acoustics in a stairwell that makes her have to sing her little heart out. It’s always the same two songs, A Whole New World from Aladdin and Part of Your World from The Little Mermaid.
It’s like living with a Disney princess.
She once sang songs from Cinderella while sweeping the floor.
Being insulted sounds nice because she sings it
You can’t be offended when the words that come out of her mouth sound pretty even when she’s telling you to clean all of your crap off of the table.
You become extremely aware of how awful your voice is when you hear her’s.
Don’t even try to hit the notes at the end of The Climb with her unless you want to be utterly embarrassed.
Lord help you if any song comes on that she knows the choreography to.
She will literally drop everything she is doing if she hears a song she has danced to before. I always pray that Shake it Off and Uptown Funk are never within her hearing range.
You can never really tell when she’s being serious because she also acts.
Are you mad at me or…?
You become a stage mom
I’ve been to every play, musical, dance performance and recital she’s been in since sophomore year and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
See for yourself the voice that comes out of this 5’0” human.
Go roommate, that’s my roommate
