Holiday Gift Guide for Your Family

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

The holiday season is here and now is the time to get started on gift shopping for your family. Need ideas for original yet useful gifts? Look no further, we’ve got you covered!

For Mom

Scarves are an easy gift to buy, and Target and Nordstrom offer a huge variety for under $20. Candles are also a perfect cozy gift during this cold weather. Bath and Body Works is known for their holiday scents, but you can also find good quality ones from Yankee Candle and Target. If you have a few more bucks to spend, consider purchasing you and your mom cooking lessons at a local culinary store or cooking school. Learning how to make a new dish is always fun, and you can create lasting memories.

For Dad

Finding your favorite photo of you and your dad and framing it in a nice frame is a very personal yet easy present. Your dad can keep it on his desk or next to his bed, and will be able to look at it when he needs a smile. If you want to spend a bit more, buy tickets to a sporting event, concert, or museum. This unique gift would allow you to bond over your mutual passion for something, and is often more special than another material item.

For Sister

If your sister is into makeup, there are tons of affordable options for nice makeup that doesn’t break the bank. Consider buying smaller versions of her favorites, like the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, so she can test out the makeup and buy the bigger versions in the future. If she isn’t into makeup, try gathering up a few movies from Target you think she would like and her favorite candy, and have a girls night. Want to give a fancier gift? Buy you and your sister gift certificates to a local nail salon for manicures. We all deserve a little pampering every now and then!

For Brother

Brothers are the hardest to shop for. Try getting yours a wallet from Nordstrom Rack, a store that sells Nordstrom items for a fraction of the price, so you are still getting the best quality. Additionally, cool socks are always a fun gift to get. Stance sells socks in an unlimited amount of patterns, and all are usually under $20. If you are interested in splurging on your brother, buy him a cool pair of sneakers, like the Adidas Ultra Boost. They are ridiculously comfortable but also Kanye West endorsed. And Yeezy knows best, right?

Happy shopping, Her Campus readers!
