Walking through campus with the tree lit up, hearing Christmas songs playing and exchanging gifts during Secret Santa all make students think about the winter break ahead. This all may be exciting and great, but to some seniors it is just a little bittersweet.
Yes, some people do decide to leave college, even graduate early.
As a freshman you hear the words, “college is going to be the best four years of your life” or, “there is no way you would want to leave early!” But have you ever been given the opportunity to advance your career? Maybe you brought in a few credits from high school?
Yes, it is okay to graduate a semester early. To some people, they want to have an easy two semesters and just relax but what about the rest of your life?
“Wait, if I graduate in December is it still acceptable for us to go out Thursday nights?” Nope.
We’re saving money, getting a jumpstart in our careers, or making a good decision to binge watch Netflix for a month to figure it out. We realize graduating college does not have to be scary and it will always be there to come back to. To some of us, we’ll see Seton Hall in a few weeks when we get bored on a weekend and to others, we will be reunited with our classmates when we come back to walk at graduation in May.
Although the days are getting closer and that bittersweet feeling is sinking into early graduating seniors’ stomachs, we remember it is not the end. It is only the beginning to our bright futures – and our college experience will always be with us.
