How to Get Through the Winter Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

The third Monday in January is often referred to as “Blue Monday” because it is believed to be the saddest day of the year. This was decided considering things like debt level, time since Christmas, the failure of New Year’s resolutions, and weather conditions. We’re well into Winter now, and it seems like the grey skies and rain are never going to let up. Here are a few tips from the Her Campus at UVic team to help you get through the cold weather while you’re dreaming of sunnier days.

What better way to beat the winter blues than to snuggle up in a pair of warm fleece pajamas like these ones from ModCloth. Not only will they keep you warm, but the sunny pattern will definitely brighten your day!

Warm pajamas don’t mean anything if your feet are freezing. Keep them warm and make your friends jealous with an adorable pair of animal-shaped slippers. They’ll make you feel super warm, and will definitely put a smile on your face.

Now that you have your cozy pajamas and slippers, time to curl up on the couch with a good movie and a soft blanket like this one from Indigo. Make yourself a warm cup of tea for a perfect winter night.

Speaking of tea- doesn’t it taste even better when you’re drinking it out of a cute mug?  Turn up the fireplace or heat in your house and grab a good book to really cozy up.

Need a treat? Bake it! Not only will baking give you something fun to do, but it also gives you something really delicious to eat! Try these perfect chocolate chip cookies for a good snack. You’ll have a lot of fun, and the oven will warm up your kitchen for a perfectly cozy home.

Unfortunately, you sometimes have to leave the house. Luckily the perfect accessory for cold winter mornings are coming back in style – ponchos! Wear one over an oversized sweater for the ultimate cozy outfit. It’s like a portable blanket that’s socially acceptable to carry around all day.

The equivalent to slippers when you’re indoors, these cute warm socks are perfect for when you’re forced to go outside. Wear a pair under your winter boots to stay nice and cozy all day long.
