Her Campus’ Capital Catwalk is just around the corner, which means it’s the time to buy your tickets and read up on all the amazing designers that will be there! We were fortunate enough to get an exclusive intereview with one of the featured designers for this years’ Capital Catwalk, Nora Pucci. Nora is the main designer behind her wonderful brand, Zarucci. They specialize in long gowns, cocktails, two pieces, and jumpsuits.

Her Campus: What made you fall in love with fashion?
Nora Pucci: I was always in love with fashion since I was a little girl. I always had passion for fine things and little details. Fashion is self-expression and how you represent yourself to others without speaking.

HC: How do you feel studying at the University of Ottawa completing an MBA help prepare you for a career in fashion?
NP: Starting a fashion brand is like starting any other business. At the end of the day, no matter how great of a designer you are, if you are not knowledgeable of the business world and staying on track your business will fail. uOttawa’s MBA program gave me a great foundation to start and develop my business.

HC: What would you say is one of your major influences with regards to your fashion style and ideas?
NP: I work with a lot of embroidered fabrics, which gave my brand a unique look, I also like designing evening jumpsuits. As more collections come out my designs are starting to be more refined and unique to that Zarucci look and style.

HC: Was there one look amongst your entire collection that you feel best represents your style and what Zarucci stands for?
NP: I have a few favourite looks in every collection, but I feel like all the looks represent Zarucci. If I had to pick I would say the hand appliquéd lace gowns and the lace or glitter jumpsuits would be it.

HC: Can you give us a little bit of insight behind the ideas and inspirations of your latest collection?
NP: Old Hollywood Glamour with a modern twist!

HC: When you design one of your evening gowns or jumpsuits, is there a specific idea or goal that you hope to achieve?
NP: To be true to myself and my brand!

HC: Do you have any insider knowledge and advice you can give to those who are interested in pursuing a career in fashion, whether it is as a designer, a business woman/man, or a writer?
NP: A lot of people involved in the fashion industry are driven by passion for the industry, so I think that would be the most important thing. It’s a tough industry but determination and keeping focused on your business goals will get you there!

Take a look at Zarucci fabulous lines of gowns and jumpsuits, and don’t forget to grab you tickets for this years’ Capital Catwalk!
