HC: As a graduating senior, what do you think is the best advice you have for college students who may be lacking some motivation?
Grecia: To the freshman, I definitely want to say stay focused. It’s so easy to come into college and forget that you have assignments due or that you have an exam the next morning. You really need to learn how to balance your newfound freedom and social life with getting your work done. To the sophomores and juniors, don’t give up. Trust me when I tell you, I’ve been there. These years fly by and if you just stay focused and think about the end goal it won’t be as hard to get there.
HC: That’s awesome advice for our readers and even myself Grecia, thank you so much. Do you feel you’ve changed since you graduated high school four years ago?
Grecia: Oh yes, definitely.
HC: How so?
Grecia: Well, don’t get me wrong. I’m still the same outgoing, bubbly person I was back then. However, I had to learn that I won’t always have someone there to remind me to get my stuff done. I had to be responsible even though I hit a couple of bumps along the way, but seeing my grades drop at one point definitely motivated me to do better. I don’t have as much of a social life right now as I did back then since I have been so busy– I’ve learned that real friends in your life understand that you’re busy and that we are all growing up.I learned how to balance my social life and my academic life, the parties can wait. If you get what I’m saying.
HC: Yes I totally understand and you seem to be doing a great job at that. You are going to be graduating right on time!
Grecia: Haha, well yes if this semester goes as promised I surely will, fingers crossed!
HC: Well I think you’ll knock it out the park. On another note, you’re engaged. By the way, that’s a gorgeous ring. What’s his name? When’s the big day?
Grecia: Well, his name is Danny and yes he did an amazing job picking out my ring. He obviously knows me very well. We are getting married June 19th right after graduation and I couldn’t be more excited to be marrying my best friend. He’s been incredibly supportive of me wanting to wrap up my degree before getting married and lord knows how grateful I am for that.
HC: How long have you two been together?
Grecia: It’s been a little over two years now. There have been some very rocky times like anything else but no one’s perfect and I’m thankful he is able to put up with all my quirks the way I am able to put up with his.
HC: Well we definitely wish you two the best.
Grecia: Thank you so much!
HC: Of course. One last thing before we wrap up though. How would you describe yourself right now in one word?
Grecia: Happy. Just completely happy. I’m graduating a proud GSU Panther Alumni and marrying my best friend shortly after to begin a new chapter of my life after I wrap up this one. I couldn’t be more thankful for all the lessons I have learned along the way whether they were difficult to understand at the time or whatever the case may have been.
