Meet Taylor Garlow, Her Campus UNL’s co-president! This week, we explored her biggest lessons learned and her expectations for the future.
Her Campus: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in school?
Taylor Garlow: “Leaving for college is scary, but going to UNL with all of my high school friends gave me a sense of comfort. However, I limited myself to all the possibilities of meeting new people. It wasn’t until my junior year that I branched out and met some amazing people that I am glad to call my friends. I wish I had ventured outside my comfort zone sooner!”
HC: What are you excited for most when you graduate?
TG: “I am most excited to get out of Nebraska! And maybe get engaged…”
HC: What is the best advice you’ve been given while in school?
TG: “The best advice I was given was, ‘It’s not always about your GPA.’ To a certain extent that matters, but what is most important is what you do outside of your studies! GET INVOLVED PEOPLE.”
HC: What is your favorite food EVER.
TG: “NACHOS!!! I hate cheese… but I LOVE queso!!! (which is basically fake cheese, right?)”
HC: What’s one thing you were nervous to try in college, but happy that
you did try?
TG: “It wasn’t college related, but I went on a Mission Trip to Costa Rica this past summer. I’ve never been out of the country and I can’t even describe the fear that crossed my mind spending two weeks in Cañas, but it was the most eye-opening, amazing experience of my life. Now I want to travel the world!”
HC: What’s a college memory that will sick with you for forever?
TG: “My greatest college memory has been the time spent with my long-term boyfriend. We’ve grown and matured so much together over the past three years and I couldn’t have imagined my college experience without him!”
HC: Zac Efron or Ryan Gosling?
TG: “Ryan Gosling has always been the secret love of my life, BUT Zac Efron’s butt in Dirty Grandpa really pushed him to first place.”
HC: Mean Girls or Clueless?
TG: “And none for Gretchen Wieners.”
There you have it! We’ll definitely miss her lots when she graduates!
