Campus Style: Florals for Winter… Groundbreaking

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

When it comes to fashion, using basic pieces as the foundation of your look is a foolproof way to create a killer outfit. By always keeping staples such as a white T-shirt, dark-wash jeans or a simple jacket in your closet, you’re well on your way to having a great wardrobe. Once you add pieces representing your personal taste, you’re bound to create a unique style. Katherine Wang shared that this is how she’s formulated her own style. Rocking a floral halter top, black jeans and black boots, she perfectly balanced fun prints with solid colors. Simple accessories tied her whole look together. Keep reading to hear more fashion advice from Katherine!

Name: Katherine Wang
Age: 18
Year: freshman
Major: marketing

Her Campus: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Katherine Wang: “My top is from Papaya, my jeans are from H&M, and my boots are also from H&M. My shades are from Tiffany & Co. I think my watch is from Macy’s, but I’m not positive.”

HC: Where do you find style inspiration?
KW: “I find a lot of inspiration from social media, especially Instagram. I really love Clothes Encounters [from YouTube]. She is my style icon! She’s so cute, and I would definitely recommend her channel.”

HC: What’s your favorite thing about fashion?
KW: “My favorite thing about fashion is just combining the outfits or combining clothes together to make the perfect outfit because you can buy cute clothes, but if you don’t pair it together well, it’s not going to end up right. For me, I really like buying basics and then mixing and matching. That’s what makes fashion fun for me.”

HC: What would be your ideal outfit?
KW: “I would definitely be wearing black or white, preferably black because I love the color. I would also be in black boots because I’m obsessed with boots. I’d wear a leather jacket to pull it all together.”

HC: Do you have any fashion advice?
KW: “I would suggest creating your own sense of style. Take some elements that are kind of trendy, but then put your own twist on it. Definitely don’t be afraid to wear whatever you like. What other people think doesn’t really matter.”
