How To Create Your Own “Flash Foward” Look Like The Cast Of Pretty Little Liars

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

As ABC Family’s series ‘Pretty Little Liars’ starts back up mid season 6 this January, the Liars jump forward five years finding themselves to join forces once again as more secrets unravel.

But how in the world did the Liars make themselves look five years older without time traveling into the future? Seriously, here’s before and after pictures just to prove that the girls either went through some type of time machine or have the best make-up artists ever…

Before:

After:

Although by the look of Hannah, Emily, Spencer, Aria, and Ali you would pretty much think that there’s no other option but them traveling into the future, you have to give so much credit to their make up artists for doing a fantastic job making the girls look flawlessly older. But, it really isn’t as hard as you’d think to give yourself the “Pretty Little Liars” look.

Here are some tips on how to give yourself a PLL “Flash Forward” makeover:

  • Change up your hairstyle! Ask a hair stylist what would best suit you and bring out your features.
  • Accent your facial features with makeup! No need to put on pounds of makeup because less is more. Accent your eyes with a bit of eyeliner and mascara, add blush to the apples of your cheeks to give you a flush of color, make your lips pop with a splash of color! There are many ways to accent enhance and bring out your features.
  • Update your wardrobe!  You want to highlight specific points of your body, but remember that showing more skin is not the only way to look older.  Try out blouses or embellished shirts, fitted jackets/blazers, dresses, skirts, and heels or flats.  There is an abundance of styles to pick from to achieve the desired chic, mature look.
  • CONFIDENCE IS KEY! The way you carry yourself is everything. Love yourself and be confident with who you are and you will glow. Practice perfect posture to help achieve a mature and confident look

Make this a fun day to pamper you and your girlfriends and give each other makeovers! You could dress like Spencer all sophisticated future president like. Or you could choose Hanna’s style which is sexy chic. Maybe if you aren’t feeling chic or sophistication, you can choose Aria’s style which is grungier Boho. You’re still dressed up, but it is way more comfortable and is not a huge jump into being dressy. But if you aren’t ready to jump into even that, you can still change up your wardrobe and be comfortable and cute like Emily! She pairs athletic jackets with jeans or a leather skirt, a very comfortable athletic leisure wear look.

Hi, my name is Vanessa and I am a Fashion Merchandising major. I also am a Fourth Degree Black Belt martial artist with aspirations of becoming an actress/model! I joined HerCampus because I love absolutley everything about the website such as beauty, fitness, lifestyle, relationship advice, and keeping up with celebrities! I enjoy reading all these articles and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Growing up here I knew there was a possibility of going to West Virginia University my entire life. Although I decided to start my college career at the University of Kentucky, those country roads led me back to WVU in the spring of my sophomore year. This was also the point when I decided to establish myself as a Broadcast Journalist student. Since this point I have strived to become the best possible journalist I can be. I am currently working as a weekend reporter for WDTV-Channel 5 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Prior to receiving this position, I worked as an intern with WCHS-tv/FOX11, in the summer of 2014, where I learned critical editing, interviewing, writing, and speaking skills. I worked closely with anchors, reporters, editors, directors, producers, and even the web team. Aside from the television industry, I am the Campus Correspondent for the West Virginia University Chapter of the online entertainment magazine, Her Campus. Another position I currently hold is the Social Media Chair of WVU’s Radio Television Digital News Association Chapter. In the Fall of 2012, I became a sister of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, in which I held the position of ‘Big Sister Chairman.’ My other passions include horse back riding, scuba diving, being outdoors, and running. I am very adventurous and I try to stay well rounded. My goal in life is to live life to the fullest and be the best possible version of myself. My ultimate goal would be to earn a spot as a reporter/anchor for Fox News, New York. I plan to graduate in December of 2016 and look forward to my future.
