Black History Month allows for many students to shine and showcase their talents at Hampton University. From our poetry slams to open mic nights, there is raw talent on this campus. The Art of Hip Hop Conference is a big event in the month of February that gives these talented individuals a chance to showcase themselves.

The Art of Hip Hop Conference was a night to remember last year. The dancing, spoken word, and lyricists were amazing. The energy in the room was at its peak. The audience was very engaged and the performances left a lasting impression.

The question is will this years conference live up to our standards?

“The showcase is really an example of the beauty of hip-hop culture. All of the participants have written their own original content and the creative atmosphere just facilitates genius. I am so excited for the show as a participant. I am sure the audience will enjoy the art and walk away with an additional perspective about what hip-hop was, is, and will become, “ says Alexis Mayfield

This will be Alexis’ first go round in The Art of Hip Hop Conference. She, along with the other participants, has been practicing countless hours for weeks since the end of last semester.

“ I think the audience can expect to see talented students showcasing their skills in a variety of ways; poetry, rap, singing, dancing, and more. It’s incredible to see what students can do,” said Jerica Deck

“ The crowd can expect to see , feel, and hear how imaging and sampling plays a huge role in today’s music. The show is going to be dope and poppin. I’m excited,” said Breeon Buchanan

The Art of Hip Hop Conference will amaze the campus this semester. All of these students have worked so hard to put on a great show. So don’t miss it. The Art if Hip Hop Conference is coming up and everyone needs to be there. It will be one for the books.
