5 Reasons Your Roommate is Your Valentine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LUC chapter.

Let’s face it – for those of us without S.O.’s, your roommate quickly becomes one. Whether you love or hate yours – hopefully the former – there’s a million different little ways that turn your roommate into your S.O., without you even knowing. Whether it’s going out for food at 3am or bringing back groceries, you know that your roommate might be the best S.O. you’ve ever had.

1. They’ll buy you food. Forget going out to a romantic dinner, I’ll take Chipotle over a fancy tablecloth anyday. Running out for food with your roommate is way better than cooking it – unless you’re into that, because that’s great, too.

2. They know your routine. You’re going to be stuck in a night class until 10pm? Your roommate probably knows, and maybe already has the kitchen clean or the stove boiling for your dinner.

3. They know when you’re upset. And more importantly, whether you like to be alone or be comforted when you’re in a ‘mood.’ Whatever the reason, your roommate probably knows the right way to get you back on your feet in no time.

4. They look out for you. Your roommate might even know you better than you know yourself, and won’t hesitate to let you know if you’re making decisions that will mess you up down the road.

5. They’ll always like your Instagram selfies. That’s true love, right there.
