So I am a total coffee fanatic. I’ll go for any kind, mochas, cappuccino, dark roast, medium roast, macchiato. You name it, I like it. But the best of the best in my books is none other than the LATTE. It’s my total go-to, pick-me-up. I get it when I’m sad, when I’m celebrating, when I’m tired, or when I’m meeting up with a friend. I just go with the plain, no flavored lattes. It’s totally boring, I know, but I love the coffee flavor along with the perfectly steamed milk.
Now, I am a Starbucks girl through and through. Once again, cliché, but it’s always been my fav. But I decided that I wanted to go explore in the beautiful city of Iowa City and test out the lattes around the local cafés. So here we go..
Starbucks
Like I said, Starbucks is my go-to, so of course I had to advocate for it. It’s pretty expensive, but I’ve never had a bad latte from here. Starbucks is fast and a perfect place to grab your latte to go. Or to sit and do some homework in the beautiful brick building downtown. The choice is yours! Definite favorite of mine.
Fair Grounds
As soon as I walked into this place, I knew I liked the vibe. There were plants out in a window and straight hipster vibe. It smelled like pancakes, and I was excited to get my latte. The latte was delicious but a bit foamier than I like it. Check this small little coffee shop out!
High Grounds
Another hipster vibe came from this place. The day I went to High Grounds, it was blizzarding, and immediately I noticed the fireplace that I could sit in front of. It definitely drew me in. There is no place I’d rather drink a latte than in front of a warm fireplace. I will be making a stop back at this place!
Java House
Another one of my favs! The morning I got this latte was beautiful and being able to sit at the bar looking out at the city through windows is just perfect. The lattes are delish there, and if you get the right barista, they’ll even throw in some latte art. Major bonus!
Caribou Coffee
This shop on Iowa Ave is the perfect place to grab a latte to go. It also serves as a prime place for some studying as you can combine it with a bagel from Bruegger’s since they’re combined. A stop at Caribou is never a bad idea, especially with the inspiring quotes on the cups!
Prairie Lights
Last but definitely not least. My roommate’s favorite place to get her lattes, so I of course had to join. This place is great because it’s coffee and books, and the latte was absolutely delicious!
