John Solewin, a Cabrini graduate himself, now celebrates his second year back at Cabrini as the assistant director of the admissions office. His job mostly involves working with the student ambassadors who work in the office and he couldn’t be happier with his position.
“Cabrini’s like home to me,” Solewin said. “I’m a graduate of Cabrini and my sister’s a graduate of Cabrini so when I had a chance to come back and work here it was like coming home and it’s definitely really rewarding.”
Solewin has always had two inspirations throughout his life to keep him motivated, his grandfather and Steve Jobs.
“Steve Jobs inspires me because he built a company that’s, I think so far, everlasting and he’s really just a creative genius. He wanted to make a product that could change the world and I think we’re trying to change the world here too.”
In working to be an inspiration to his “team” in the admissions office, Solewin will often find quotes from Steve Jobs or related to the Apple Company before a big day such as open houses or Accepted Student Day.
He hopes to bring the admissions office together as a family to work hard and promote the school that he loves to all prospective students. While attending Cabrini, he was involved in many clubs and organizations, including being a student-athlete on the track team, a member of Catholic Relief Services and the president of Cabrini’s Student Government Association.
If he had the opportunity to live somewhere else (though he doesn’t foresee leaving Cabrini anytime soon), Solewin would want to live in Miami where his grandfather currently lives.
Solewin’s favorite color is Cabrini blue, favorite food is “easily pizza” and, though he really does enjoy working, when he’s not working he likes to hang out with his friends and go running.
