It’s RAMS season folks, so it’s time to meet one of the brains behind it all. Senior Elena Randazzo is a biology and psychology major with a Spanish minor from St. Louis and is one of the tri-directors for RAMS this year. Read more to find out about Elena and RAMS!
Her Campus Mizzou: What is RAMS?
Elena Randazzo: Rockin’ Against Multiple Sclerosis is a student-run organization that provides service and support to the MS Institute of Mid-Missouri. In order to do this, RAMS creates opportunities for students through educational and philanthropic events focused on multiple sclerosis. Some of our events include Speaker Night, Service Day, the Runnin’ Against MS 5K, Comedy Night, Trivia Night, and, Rock It, our lip sync and dance competition between organizations.
HCM: How were you selected as a tri-director?
Elena: I have been involved with RAMS since my freshman year at Mizzou, where I attended Speaker Night and Rock It and fell in love with the organization. I started working on the steering committee my sophomore year, and this year I was fortunate enough to be selected as a tri-director.
HCM: What are your responsibilities as tri-director?
Elena: As a tri-director, I work with the other directors, our advisors, and the steering committee to make sure that all of the RAMS events are planned out and run smoothly.
HCM: What are you most excited for with this title?
Elena: Becoming a director has allowed me to serve RAMS in such an involved and meaningful way, and my experiences this year have helped me to grow as a leader and person. Now as the season is coming to a close, I can look back on all of our hard work and feel proud of how much we have been able to do for our clients of the MS Institute.
HCM: Do you have a close connection with MS?
Elena: I do not have a personal connection with MS, but I have formed meaningful relationships with clients of the MS Institute over the past three years and I see them in everything we do; they make all of the work worth it.
HCM: What can other students do to get involved with RAMS?
Elena: RAMS is open to all students, so keep your eyes peeled next year, grab some friends and have fun at our RAMS events! Also look for us around campus when we host awareness events!
HCM: What other organizations are you involved in on campus?
Elena: I am also a member of the PHA chapter of Chi Omega, a volunteer with Centro Latino, and I have worked with the Student Health Advisory Council.
