I turned 20 this week, and that came with the start of a new decade. A decade that I definitely don’t think I’m physically or mentally prepared for. A decade of adult-ing. Here’s a list of the 20 things I either got excited or cried about after saying goodbye to my teenage years.
1. If my life goes according to plan, this is the decade I’ll get married.
2. And have kids. (I can barely take care of myself!)
3. And own my first house or apartment.
4. And figure out where my career is going.
5. Which means I might have to live far from home… permanently.
6. Which means my parents will probably follow me wherever I settle.
7. My body’s going to start changing, so that means actually eating healthy.
8. And working out.
9. No more binging on Chick-Fil-A, because that good metabolism will fly out the window.
10. I’m not going to be able to stay out all night anymore.
11. Well, not every night.
12. This is the decade where I have to learn to budget.
13. Because I’m going to have to start paying for things.
14. Like bills. Which also means I’ll have to stop running out of cell phone data every month, because my parents won’t be there to bail me out.
15. And taxes. Which also means I’ll have to figure out how to even do taxes. What are taxes?
16. Gone are the years of watching Netflix all night. While binging on Chick-Fil-A.
17. The friends I have now are probably going to be my friends for life.
18. My memories from the previous decade will slowly start to fade away.
19. But that’s okay, because I’ll make plenty of new ones.
20. Because I’m an adult.
