6 Photo Editing and Design Apps to Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

If you’re tired of just putting your photos through the Valencia filter on VSCO, try something new with these apps!

1.     Adobe Photoshop Express (free)

This app mimics the functions in Adobe Photoshop, giving users a ton of control over most elements of their photos like the highlights and shadows.  You can crop/rotate/flip their photos, add a frame, correct red eyes, spot heal, choose a filter, or change the levels individually.  A great app for perfectionists who want to edit on the go.

2.      Typic ($2.99)

This app allows you to add text and designs to your photos.  There are a ton of fonts to choose from, and you can change the letter spacing, opacity and color of your text.  There are plenty of designs and doodles, making this app a must-have for quick announcements and infographics for social media posts.

3.      Facetune ($3.99)

Do you have friends who are super picky about what photos you can post of them?  This app lets you smooth skin, whiten teeth, add details to eyes, defocus backgrounds…  Of course you can also choose filters and frames and crop your photo all within the app as well.

4.      MOLDIV (free)

This simple collage app has a ton of options! Edit photos, adjust the lines of your collage and choose the color, pattern, or photo that you want to use as the background.

5.      Instamag (free)

This collage app has a wide variety of magazine-layout type designs to bring your collage game to the next level!

6.      Tadaa SLR ($3.99)

This app helps you achieve that depth of field that DSLRs are known for.  You can either take a photo with the app and choose what to focus on, or you can use a photo you have already taken and manually focus your subject later to achieve that professional look.
