Poetic Mondays: Breaking Mine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

Poetic Mondays: Breaking Mine (B.E.S. 1/11)

This monday we’re featuring one of a series of 11 poems that has been sent to us by an anonymous author referred to as Brown Eyed Soul. The author let us know that these poems were a form a therapy to recover from a recent break-up. So we thank you Brown Eyed Soul for trusting us with your words, and just know that we will try our best to feature each one of your poems whenever it’s possible.

Darling, what’s it gonna take,

For you to let me in?

I know your heart’s at stake,

But on me know you can lean.

I laid down all of my walls,

But yours are way up high.

How do I make them fall,

Without kissing you goodbye?

Your hand is out of reach,

And your eyes I cannot read.

I know I tend to overreach,

With the sole purpose of growing this seed.

I feel you could be the one,

If you just dare to take a chance.

So embrace this journey we’ve begun,

And take my hand so we can dance.

I know it’s a brand new start,

But you gotta cross the line.

By protecting your own heart,

You’ll end up breaking mine.
