How are you involved with the UWSA?
I am a senator, which means that I serve on the University of Windsor’s Centre and sit on the UWSA Board of Directors.
What kind of work does being a senator involve?
On the academic side, it’s my responsibility to interact in a way that represents students. I am involved with decisions that are being made by the senate with regard to programs, faculty, promotions, hiring non-academic staff positions, such as the provosts and deans, but also any academic misconducts or any prof-student related issues. I also present initiatives to the senate to improve student positions from an academic perspective.
On the Board of Directors, it’s my job to represent the student voice for the purpose of directing the UWSA as an organization to make decisions to benefit its student membership at large.
Through the UWSA, I struck a committee to implement a student experience survey that will probably be coming out in mid-March. This was just as a duty of my UWSA position.
Why did you want to get involved in politics?
I have a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the decision-making that happens at the university with respect to the students and the administration.
Do you plan to continue in politics?
At this point I believe I will continue in some way with political involvement.
What do you enjoy outside politics?
I’m involved in a fraternity on campus, Delta Chi. I was the Recruitment Chair for the Winter 2016 semester. I’m also involved with several clubs on campus. Some I have positions with, some I don’t, but I interact a lot. I’m also the Vice President of Finance of the Society of Arts and Social Sciences. I’m also the secretary for the Undergrad Society for International Relations and Political Science. It’s very much like engineering or other fields like drama that have multiple distinctions. We have Political Science and International Relations; still Political Science but a separate type of sub-program. The society acts for both.
What are some of your hobbies?
I enjoy long walks on the beach… Just kidding! In the off chance that I do have free time, I read, exercise, play video games, and I occasionally engage in on-campus nerf combat with a ratified club.
Who is your favourite dragon from How to Train Your Dragon?
The black one.
Toothless?
I thought the name was anti-climatic. It ruined the name for me. I like “The Really Cool Black Dragon.”
