On February 28, 2016, the best of the film industry gathered together at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, for The 88th Annual Academy Awards, A.K.A. The Oscars. Just in case you missed it, here’s a short recap of some of the winners.
1. Best Actor: Leonardo Dicaprio, The Revenant

2. Best Actress: Brie Larson, Room
Brie Larson receives Best Actress award for her role in the drama/ thriller Room.
3. Best Picture: Spotlight
Spotlight is a film based on a true story The Boston Globe uncovering a large scandal of child molestation within the Catholic Church.
4. Best Supporting Actor: Mark Rylance, Bridge of Spies
British actor Mark Rylance, won an Oscar for his portrayal of an actual KGB Spy, Rudolf Abel, and his story in Steven Spielberg’s, Bridge of Spies.
5. Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander, The Danish Girl
6. Best Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu, The Revenant
7. Best Documentary Feature: Amy
Amy, directed by Asif Kapadia, is a documentary about the life of the late british singer, Amy Winehouse.
8. Best Original Song: “Writing’s on the Wall” from Spectre, Sam Smith, Jimmy Napes
9. Best Animated Feature Film: Inside Out
