Her Campus (HC): What are you involved with on and off campus?
Lisa Mason (LM): “Well, I’m one who likes to keep busy, so I’m very much involved with Admissions; on campus I work as a tour guide/work study. Also, I’m involved with Alpha Lambda Delta and most recently off campus I work at my internship with Excela Health’s MARCOMM Department.”
HC: Tell me about your internship with Excela Health.
LM: “I absolutely love my internship! Though it keeps me busy, it’s a really great experience because I get to work so closely with the public and get a lot of hands on experience in the field I wish to pursue. It’s always a really fulfilling experience to work on something from start to finish with solely your name on it and see it all come together.”
HC: What would you describe as the perfect date?
LM: “Hmm…my perfect date at first would probably have to be just a simple nature walk followed up by a nice dinner. Preferably a dinner trying a new recipe that we both “attempted” to make! Truthfully, although I like fancy stuff, I don’t need a lot of flashy things. I care much more about the little things and enjoying just spending time getting to know the other person. If there’s a spark, all the fun adventures will surely follow.”
HC: What is your major? Why did you choose it?
LM: “I am a marketing major with a management minor. I chose it because getting to know others and talking is one of my favorite things to do. Fun fact: I used to be terribly shy, so it’s funny because now all I do is talk! I’m also a little bit of a nerd, so the math associated with marketing is also one of those things I geek out and enjoy doing. Unless it’s statistics… that’s where my ‘geeking’ goes out the window.”
HC: Why did you join Her Campus St. Vincent?
LM: “I joined HC St. Vincent because I love to write! I actually have a blog of my own that I tend to when I get any free time, so I had to jump at the opportunity.”
HC: What is your favorite class that you are taking or have taken at SVC?
LM: “My favorite class that I have taken at SVC probably has to be Consumer Behavior. I love the fact that the class consists of a mix between psychology and marketing to make up the psychology of marketing and why people buy the things that they do. Psychology has always been intriguing to me, so mix that together with marketing and you have my favorite class.”
HC: You have a day to binge watch a show on Netflix, what do you choose?
LM: “Oh goodness, this is dangerous territory now, how can I just choose one?! I would probably either binge watch episodes of Parks and Recreation, New Girl, or One Tree Hill. Or should I say, I have binge watched episodes of all of these shows.”
HC: Where are you most likely at on campus?
LM: “To be honest, I’m such a busy bee you’ll be hard pressed to find me in one particular spot! But, I like to spend a lot of time in my room on rainy days and outside as much as I can when the weather is nice.”
HC: Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years?
LM: “In 3-5 years I hope to be employed as marketer, doing the things which I love and right on track with whatever punches life throws at me. I also hope to be finishing up with my Master’s degree on pursuit to becoming a professor someday teaching marketing.”
HC: What are your major turn-offs?
LM: “Major turn-offs for me are whenever someone doesn’t hold themselves to a certain standard and really just sell themselves short by wasting a lot of potential. Odds are, they are a great person on the inside, but I know I have goals I want to achieve and I want to be able to help them to achieve theirs! But, you gotta give me something to work with, ya feel?”
HC: What do you do in your free time?
LM: “I love to write actually; which is strange because you can literally always find me chatting away somewhere. But, there’s something about writing that is so therapeutic. Highly recommend it.”
HC: Is there anything you wish you knew when you were a freshman in college?
LM: “If anything, I wish I would’ve realized more just how great I had it. Now don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved my freshman year, but I definitely would’ve slowed down and enjoyed everything more.”
HC: Why did you choose Saint Vincent College?
LM: “Fun fact: SVC was actually my last stop and I visited here by accident! But, as soon as I got here, I fell in love with campus right away. It’s a home away from home and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!”
HC: What is your celebrity crush?
LM: “Hands down Jake Gyllenhaal. I mean, he’s beautiful is he not? Just look at that jawline, smile…and well, just everything else.”
HC: If you could only pick one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
LM: “Oh goodness; what kind of cruel torture is this? Okay, so how about this…f I could only choose one food for the rest of my life it would be one of those combination appetizer trays. Loop holes. There’s always a loop hole.”
HC: Where is your dream place to travel to?
LM: “I would love to travel to Spain! In my opinion, it’s honestly one of the most beautiful places in the world and the culture seems like so much fun.”
