Spring Break Binge List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Rowan chapter.

Spring break is finally here! For those of us who have chosen to spend spring break relaxing at home after midterms, here’s a list of great movies to watch on Netflix when you find yourself saying “There are no good movies on Netflix”.

Across the Universe

If you’re a Beatles fan, you’ll definitely love this one. Across the Universe is a musical rom-com filled with renditions of Beatles Hits. Jude, an English immigrant comes to America in seek of his father and quickly befriends Princeton student Max and his beautiful sister, Lucy. The movie takes place in the late 1960s and deals with major social issues of the time such as the popularity of drugs, the introduction of rock music, and the Vietnam War.

Legally Blonde

Although we’ve all seen Legally Blonde once, twice, or maybe even ten times, this classic movie is essential to any movie marathon. Elle Woods, a driven stereotypical sorority girl takes on the challenge of going to Harvard in hopes of reuniting with her old beau. Turns out, she finds love in much bigger and better things and proves that there’s so much more to life and happiness than dating.

Silver Linings Playbook

Silver Linings Playbook is one of those rare movies that takes a book and perfectly executes it on the big screen. In this movie, Pat lost his wife, job, spent time in a mental institution, and lives with his parents. He is desperately to try to get his life back together. During this time he meets Tiffany who promises to help him out if in exchange, he helps her with her dance competition. The two have a great connection making the movie a must-watch.

American Pie

Netflix currently has two American Pie movies streaming, both of which are worth the watch. The American Pie movies are raunchy but nonetheless hysterical. The American Pie focuses around high-school/college students as they get into trouble with friends and family while providing laughs along the way. Netflix has American Pie: Naked Mile and Beta House

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is arguably one of the most iconic movies of the 80s and still lives in our hearts today. Who can resist Ferris’ charm and wit as he skips school to have the greatest day ever. Let’s be real, we all wish we could spend a day off the same way instead of sitting on our couch.

Dope

Dope is one of Netflix’s newest additions and definitely a movie you need to see. Malcolm, a high school senior, is in the midst of applying to college, more specifically Harvard. Malcolm doesn’t live in the best part of California and ends up getting caught up with a drug dealer who secretly hides drugs in his bag. The movie is a giant roller coaster after that as Malcolm tests his morals and tries to make the best of the situation alongside his friends.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

If you’re a Gossip Girl fan, spend the day feeling like Blair Waldorf by watching her favorite actress, Audrey Hepburn, in one of the century’s most classic movies. Audrey Hepburn plays the role of a young woman with a big heart and big dreams in New York who wants to be a socialite with a love for fashion and parties.

Hi! I'm a freshman at Rowan University and am a double major in history and political science with a minor in Spanish. I'm a cupcake enthusiast and a wanderer, I love to write and travel. Once I broke my nose by slipping on ice cream in McDonald's and haven't been able to go back ever since. My favorite movies include Across the Universe, Sandlot, and basically every Disney movie ever made. I live by, "What Would Blair Waldorf Do?"
