In the beginning…

There were many times when something happened and I wanted to document it on Snapchat and then I remembered: I’m not using social media. Was it really important enough to show to my 50 friends? Probably not. I think sometimes we just need a break. Social media is too in your face sometimes, you know? I wanted to try out this experiment and see how it went. whoever really needed to contact me knew where to find me or how to reach me so that’s all that really matters, right? There were so many things I wanted to tweet or post on Facebook but instead I was able to write them down and relive them.  Xoxo, girl living under a rock for the week.

Half way through…

It’s a habit for me to check social media when I’m done with all of my work or when I have nothing else to do. Now I’m forced to be productive and get things done that I’ve been procrastinating on for months. I found out that Charlie Kelmeckis from “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is a Capricorn today, and that happens to be my star sign too. I’m totally into astrology and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is my favorite book and movie. I wanted to tweet about it so badly but instead I just told everyone I knew.  Day four. I almost gave up and uploaded Twitter and snapchat but I knew it was worth it for journalistic purposes. I wanted to share my score on the ‘Kylie and Kendall’ app and I wanted to let everyone know that I went on a date with a childish Gambino look-alike, but I guess it’s my secret to keep.

What I discovered…

I feel a lot more free from drama and knowing every aspect of every persons life on my timeline. I’ve had time to focus on myself and my close friends and family and that’s way more beneficial than liking someone’s Facebook post. My phone has become less important and less like an extended limb and more like an appliance to contact people. I could totally do this whole no social media thing, but I would miss snapchattIng people ugly selfies to brighten their day.
