6 Times #Ham4Ham Completely Killed Us

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Hamilton, with book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, is the most successful musical currently on Broadway… making it next to impossible to get tickets. Without paying $800 for one ticket or waiting more than a year, the only way to try to get tickets is through a ticket lottery where people can wait before the show in order to try to win price-reduced front row tickets. While people wait in line, an interesting thing has become a phenomenon: the actors are putting on free mini performances for those waiting in line! Just by standing in line, you could get the chance to see Lin, Renée, Phillipa, Leslie, Anthony, Jasmine, Jonathan, Christopher, Daveed or any other member of the cast.

Known fondly as #Ham4Ham performances, the actors want to give back to the people who make the musical so popular – the fans. For those of you just looking for the best of these performances, here’s a list of some of the most memorable #Ham4Ham events!

1. When all 8 Hamilton children got their time to shine (feat. some of the children from Fun Home):

2. When the ladies of Hamilton took the mic and did their own performance of “My Shot”:

3. When the resident Hamilton power couple, Anthony Ramos and Jasmine Cephas Jones, performed their own version of “No Air” by Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks *cue heart eyes emoji*:

4. When members of the cast of the Spring Awakening revival joined original Spring Awakening cast member Jonathan Groff to perform “Totally F*cked”:

5. When slam poet Sarah Kay dropped by and dropped an AMAZING poem that reminded her of the Schuyler Sisters:

6. And without further ado – possibly the best moment in #Ham4Ham history – when the Schuyler Georges showed up:
