Yippee! Spring has officially arrived on Hawk Hill which means the hopes of warmer weather seems very promising. Warmer days also mean you can now exercise outside without catching hypothermia (but seriously, who wants to run outside when its snowing out?!).

So, while the springtime weather motivates you to get up and go, its important to take care of your body after a workout too. Eating properly post-workout can help you restore energy and repair sore muscles. Here are seven great post-workout foods you can find in your home or at Campion!

Eggs are an awesome post-workout food. At 70 calories each, eggs are packed with 6.3 grams of protein and one of the few foods that naturally containVitamin D. Campion typically serves scrambled eggs and omelets everyday in the morning making it the perfect way to start your day and end your workout.

Quinoa, pronounced (keen-wah), is another great post workout food. Its a great carb alternative to brown rice and is filled with great vitamins and minerals.

Bananas are a great post-workout food to grab on the go. This fast acting carb will help restore your body’s levels of glycogen which helps rebuild damaged muscles. It’s also a good source of potassium.

Yum! For all you veggies-lovers out there hummus is an awesome alternative to meat and a great source of protein. Try it with your favorite veggies and pita bread!

Blueberries are an awesome post-workout food! This super food has the highest antioxidant capacity of all commonly consumed fruits and vegetables. This wonderful fruit can be found in Campion at the smoothie bar most mornings.

Water is the most important post-workout food. It seems obvious but forgetting to hydrate properly is a common mistake. You should replace every pound lost during a workout with 2-3 glasses of water.

Here’s to a great workout and feeling even better after!
