Poly Places: Bello Mundo

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Hooray! Two quarters down. One to go.

To make sure you don’t bore yourself with the same spot in the library, change things up a bit. Head over to Bello Mundo cafe downtown.

Whether you need a fresh new study space or a new environment to catch up with friends, Bello Mundo’s got the right atmosphere. A cross between craftsman and rustic style, the walls of Bello Mundo are brick. The floors are smooth, cool and concrete. Hardwood floor-like tables made for two or a group of friends are neatly arranged throughout the cafe. The walls inside display vibrant artwork while others have vintage pieces like bicycle wheels hanging from them. On the tables toward the back, signs read, “this space is device-free and used for catching up with friends.” These little notes encourage a greater sense of community within the cafe and remind customers about the little things in life like quality conversation over a cup of coffee.

At the counter, you’re also met with a delicious menu, a tempting display case of pastries and amicable baristas.

Bello Mundo offers many types of coffee such as the Ethiopian roast, a darker more smooth flavor and the Guatemalan roast, reminiscent of tart fruits like strawberries. Once you’ve got your cup of coffee, the second room attached to the first has a long gallery where you’ll be sure to find your study spot. But if you’re not hitting the books, the area nearest the entrance is the place to chat with a friend.

Who’s ready to revamp their study spot?
