Star Wars Rogue One Teaser Trailer Review:

Another year of Star Wars is upon us! From the studio that brought you one of the most historic film sagas of all time comes another chapter to the story, only this time, it’s a prequel! Just kidding, this time hopefully, it’s a good prequel. After months of anticipation for a teaser trailer after the gigantic success of The Force Awakens, the teaser trailer for Rogue One, the story of the team that stole the plans of the Death Star from Darth Vader and the Empire has finally arrived!

So how was it? In a word… AMAZING! Garreth Edwards, director of 2014’s Godzilla, takes the helm to direct this story of the team who risked everything to help bring down the Empire before the story of A New Hope begins, and by the look this film has and the talented cast at the helm starring Felicity Jones as the protagonist of the film, as well as Donnie Yen, Diego Luna, and Forest Whitaker in supporting roles.

From the start of the trailer, we get another tale with a troubled rebel who happens to be recruited by the rebellion to help fight the Empire and steal valuable information from them. Not only do we get great glimpses of set pieces and nostalgic images reminiscent of the original trilogy, but they’re all captured from image to image on scale that feels practical and looks flat-out stunning on a visual scale. Perhaps the best part of this trailer, is that it barely gives us anything but still builds a level of excitement and awe, specifically the final moments of the trailer showing the rebellion charging the classic AT-AT Walkers, blasting away at them.

As for any Darth Vader fans out there who might be wondering if he’ll make an appearance in the film, we see Grand Moff Tarkin early on in the trailer, and if you pause at 1:28 and listen onward, you’ll hear the breathing similar to that of the biggest badass in the galaxy.
