5 Bedroom Renovation Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Even though the big G word is creeping up on all of us seniors way faster than most of us are willing to admit to ourselves, one thing we can look forward to is redecorating our rooms. The large majority of us will be going back home to our old rooms, or to new apartments with a new bedroom. Either way, this is a chance for us to either decorate a new room or update our old high school styled rooms to a new college graduate styled room. It’s important to wake up and go to sleep in a space that feels like your own. So, here are some things to get your creative juices flowing.

1. Colors

Although not all of us would like to take the time to actually paint our rooms, some of us see this as a crucial step. For those that would like to, according to www.benjaminmoore.com, these are the color trends in 2016. The color of the year actually happens to be, “Simply White.”

2. Comforter

Now, obviously the pattern and the color of the walls will have an effect on the comforter that you choose. Some people prefer simple, solid colored comforters. Others prefer to have their comforter spice up the room with intricate designs.

3. Decorating the walls

Some people like a more bohemian feel with a tapestry or some lights.

Others go for a chic look with framed pictures or quotes neatly hung up on the wall.

4. Closet/Clothing

The post-grad life can be chaotic, so some organization in our lives is essential. I’m not sure about anyone else, but nothing makes me feel more calm than looking at organized clothing. Although we may not all have the biggest closets or much room for shelves, here are two ideas for either.

5. Calendar

Although it might sound ridiculous, I have found that one of the most essential pieces of my room is my large calendar. It helps me stay both organized and on track, and they can even look like a decoration.

So Collegiettes, I wish you luck on designing your new, perfect personal space! Create something that will inspire you, help keep you organized, and keep you happy and at peace!
