Whether you’re cleaning your apartment from top to bottom or removing people in from life, “spring cleaning” is a very vital transition process. As winter is officially over (thank God!), spring is in full force in preparation for the summer months. I don’t know about you, but after I do some serious cleaning around my house my head instantly is clearer to think through and so are my feelings. It’s much easier for me to process things once the space in my living area is clean as well.

There are multiple types of spring cleaning though:

The emotional spring cleaning!

You’ve just now went through a tremendous break up or you lost a friend you thought you’d keep forever, so what are you going to do next? It’s time to clean! Clean up your thoughts, your bad habits, your own personal inconsistencies. Clean your emotional transgressions for someone new. You never know when it’ll happen, but to be stuck like how you were feeling in the winter time won’t help when the sun is out.

The actual spring cleaning!

Go through your closets and toss out your winter clothes and replace them with some trendy clothes that might show a little skin for the summer, or whatever you’re comfortable in! Also, what you can do is while you’re switching out your wardrobe, locate items you don’t wear anymore and put them in a pile to donate! You will know what clothes aren’t in season anymore or some of your clothes that you simply don’t fit!

Write down some goals!

As the semester comes to an end take some time to relax and prepare for the transition into summer. You may have a job or summer internship that starts right after school, so it’s time to set write some goals down that you want to accomplish for the end of the summer. Maybe even create a vision board! I’ve found that creating a vision board helps you visually see your goals so that when you look back on it you can actually see what’s come to life! Having constant motivation is what drives you to want to do more. So set some goals for yourself!

We all love the warm weather, sitting by the pool in a cute bikini sipping some lemonade is what I call the life! If you follow these instructions on how to properly “Spring Clean” you’ll flourish all throughout the summertime!

Hi everyone!

I am a sophomore at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University who should be majoring in Weddings, but is actually a Journalism & Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia. Originally I am from Woodbridge, Virginia, which is about 30 minutes south of our nation’s capital. I have lived here all my life, but I’m not afraid to branch out and explore the world.

This past summer I studied abroad in Sydney, Australia to engage and immerse myself in Australian culture. The experience was phenomenal and I’m already counting down the days until I can return that beautiful country.
