“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life.” – Prince

Music icon Prince passed away on Thursday (April 21) at the young age of 57 years old. He was found in his Minnesota estate when it was confirmed he had sadly passed away. Prince was born in Minneapolis and he always had a passion for music. The notable singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, performer, actor and producer was a creative genius. He had a wide vocal range and an amazing stage presence. Prince had the ability to do a variety of music genres and he nailed them all effortlessly. His style was mainly a mix of R&B, Rock & Roll, Funk, Pop and Psychedelia, though. Prince wrote his first song at the age of seven and recorded songs with his band 94 East at the age of 19. His debut album For You was released in 1978 and in 1979 his album Prince went platinum! In 1984 he released his successful album Purple Rain and film of the same name. Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide, was ranked 27 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Artists of All Time list, and is one of the best-selling artists of all time. He won seven Grammy awards, a Golden Globe and an Academy award. He was even inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, which marked the first year he was eligible to be inducted. He toured countless times always pleasing the crowd and in 2007 he played at the Super Bowl Halftime Show to 140 million television viewers.
