What year are you? “Sophomore (rising junior! :D)”
What is your major? “International/Global Studies and Anthropology”
What organization(s) are you involved in on campus? “African Student Union”
What do you do in (the organization(s) listed)? “I was an active member for the fall semester, and Treasurer for the spring semester.”
What kinds of events do you hold? “Each year we host African Night in November, which is our biggest event, plus ASU Week in the spring. This year we also hosted the IVASA pageant, which was a competition between African organizations from different campuses across NC.”
Do you know of anything exciting happening next semester? “AFRICAN NIGHT!!! We’ve already started planning for it, and we know it will be a great one. This event is a showcase of African culture that anyone can participate in. We work with both ASU members and regular UNCG students who want to be involved. This show is super popular with not only UNCG students, but those from other schools, friends, and family. The crowd never disappoints! I encourage everyone to check it out and learn about what it really means to be African!”
Why should students be involved on campus? “There is only so much a student can get out of the college experience if they don’t get involved! Trying new things can be one of the scariest parts of college, but it’s also the most rewarding. New experiences, interests, and people are the best part of truly being a part of campus!”
