Lívia Martins – DM of the Futsal Team
Age: 21
Major: Journalism
Grade: Senior
Member of the team since: 2013
What’s your strongest memory with the Team?
The final game against Mackenzie at JUCA in 2013. It was my freshmen year I was not even playing yet. But when the other team scored a goal at the last minute of the game, winning the game, I cried so much! I couldn’t even explain how sad I felt that day.
How close are you with your teammates?
Me and the girls are very close. A lot of the girls that got in the team with me in my freshmen year are still playing, we went through SO much together (laughs), that we develop strong friendships. And we kept bonding with the new girls every year, so they feel welcome to the team.
In which way being part of the team has changed your academic experience?
Being part of team brings a certain reponsability, not as big as the ones you have as a student, but it’s a still commitment you have outside the class. And it’s also a great way to get to know people from different majors, or even people from your own class that your never got a chance to talk before.
How’s JUCA’s preparation so far? Anything special?
Now we have an extra day to practice during the week. So we kept our practices on Mondays and Saturdays, but we added one on Wednesdays until JUCA. And we play exhibition games during the weekends, and NDU’s championship as a way to prepare ourselves to JUCA.
Predictions for 2016?
It’s my last JUCA this year, but it’s feels like it’s my first, all the anxiety is the same! (laughs) But as we have been practing way more than every other year, our expectations are high for this JUCA, all the girls are working hard to win this year.
