For the best view, I recommend taking advantage of Athens’ hilly landscape. Radar Hill is a mere 15-20 minute hike from The Ridges, meaning that you can get a bit of exercise before the sun even rises— which constitutes serious bragging rights, obvi.
‘Twas the Saturday before classes started and all through the campus, not a student was stirring except for a crazy girl who decided to wake up at 5:40 a.m. to see the sunrise.
If you haven’t taken the time to wake up a little earlier than normal to check out the sunrise, you are missing out on a great deal of Athens beauty that’s just waiting to be discovered.
If you’re not too keen on waking up early before class, grab some friends and make the trek on a weekend. 5:40 a.m. sounds insane when you’re by yourself, but with a pal or two by your side, you are guaranteed to see a great view with great company.
