Let’s meet Gaby Chavarria! Gaby is a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois who recently declared a communications major. Not only is she a Posse scholar, a Global Partner and an assistant to the VP of Event Planning at Pi Beta Phi, she also started a new dance group on campus called La Fuerza Latina.

La Fuerza Latina is the only Latin dance group on DePauw’s campus. “We started to give people a space to learn about different dances, where they came from and how to dance!” says Gaby.

Her Campus: Hey Gaby! This is so exciting. Congratulations! So…what inspired you to start this organization?

Gaby: At my high school, there were different dance clubs to join. Unfortunately on DePauw’s campus, there are very few. I wanted to expose people at this school to different cultures and how to dance, but more importantly I want to give them the confidence that I gained when I learned how to dance.

HC: Wow, that’s great! When do you guys meet?

Gaby: We are going to have two workshops coming up in September. Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed, so keep a lookout for flyers around campus!

HC: You’re a rock star! We sure will! Thank you so much!
