Politics has traditionally never been a woman’s game, and for years we have watched men long enough to see them playing the field and calling the shots.

Why is this a ” Man’s World” ? Maybe it’s because being active in politics, and knowledgeable about current events, isn’t feminine to most people’s standards; It might be that some people still believe that politics isn’t “a women’s place”. How can the United States have a representative government of 19.3% of women in our national congress, when women make up over 50% of the population?

Now, this article isn’t a call for women to run for congress or a state position, but for those, like many, who hate politics and chose to ignore it; I speak to you.

Politics is not something that will go away anytime soon, and it is going to be a part of life as long as people are living with one another. The word politics itself usually has a rightful association with the negative, and it isn’t easy watching as these politicians, in the name of their own crusade, make decisions that usually don’t serve the masses. However, ignoring the bad parts of politics can only make it worse; these problems continue to exist even if you look away from them.

Politics can no longer be a man’s world, because this unrepresentative system is not helping us women or the people around us. We can’t just sit around and complain about how the system continues to cheat us. If you are angry about raised tuition on your campus, go to your representative and tell them, and use your vote to make the change. We as women have fought for our voting rights, and sometimes your single vote may seem small to you, but it holds so much power. Your vote isn’t worthless; it’s the foundation of change.

I encourage you in these upcoming months to pay attention to the politics, vote for who you agree with, and get involved. Follow what’s going on in your government so that you can make a difference in your local politics. You as a woman have the constitutional right to have your opinion, and to let your voice be heard . Don’t allow them to continue to make politics the unfair world that it can be.

Women do not let politics continue to be a man’s game. It’s time to join inhelp them win, and make changes for the good
