The definition of a sisterhood is a group of females who motivate, encourage and support each other like family. At Delaware State University, there are many forms of sisterhoods on campus. Organizations such as Fairy Godsisters of Delaware, Elite, Sisterhood of Success, and sororities have stayed true to their values. However, Her Campus is a new kind of sisterhood—a bond created by a common interest.
Her Campus creates a place for members to share their interests through writing, photos, events and lifestyle. Del State already has The Hornet Newspaper, however female voices tend to be hidden in this publication. In a school that is majority female, the male presence still seems to dominant on our campus and beyond. Her Campus is making female voices loud and clear on campus. Unique articles such as popular fashions, resumes tips, and motivational advice can help not females but also everyone that’s interested in reading. Her Campus is expressive, fun and imaginative, qualities that make an online magazine powerful. Â
Popular female magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Essence and Vogue are all missing a unique aspect that Her Campus has. They lack the voice of real female college students from universities all across the world. Being a college student is already stressful enough, especially being a black female. Not only do you have to deal with professors, exams and papers, but you also have to deal with “boys” who think they know more than you. Her Campus is the perfect guide to getting through your college years, with a strong sisterhood behind the magic.
